Elementary
Elementary I (ages 6 – 9)

The Center For Montessori Teacher Education/North Carolina (CMTE/NC) offers an Lower
Elementary teacher training program which, upon successful completion, leads to an
American Montessori Society (AMS) Lower Elementary Credential, one of the most highly
esteemed Montessori teaching credentials in the world. The candidate must have a
Bachelor’s Degree for certification to be granted.

These 360 hours will cover the classic cosmic Montessori Elementary Curriculum for
ages 6 – 9, with additional emphasis on successful class management to meet the
needs of the American child.  

Any candidate who currently does not hold a Montessori Early Childhood Credential is
required to take a 45 hour Overview of this level of Montessori teacher preparation.  

Elementary I-II (ages 6-12)

The Center For Montessori Teacher Education/North Carolina (CMTE/NC) offers an Lower
Elementary teacher training program which, upon successful completion, leads to an
American Montessori Society (AMS) 6-12 Elementary Credential, providing the student has
a Bachelors degree and has taken and successfully completed the 6-9 Lower Elementary
program. This is one of the most highly esteemed Montessori teaching credentials in the
world.  It will enable you to teach any of the Montessori Elementary grade levels.  

These 240 hours will cover the classic cosmic Montessori Elementary Curriculum for
ages 9 – 12, with additional emphasis on meeting national standards in Math, Social
Studies and Geography education as well as recognizing Learning Differences in
students.  Included also is a focus on successful management techniques to meet the
needs of the contemporary American child.
